How to Regenerate Your Project ID

Your Project ID is the unique number assigned to each one of your WordPress installs to keep your Docket lists separated.

Any projects with identical Project ID's will share lists and tasks in real time.

Starting with version 0.8 the settings panel for Docket WP (Settings > Docket WP) allows you to regenerate your project ID— this essentially wipes the data for Docket WP clean on the install you regenerate.

There are two reasons why you may want to do this:

1. You want to "start over" with an install by wiping clean all the active, archived, and trashed lists on an install.

2. You cloned a site and don't want to retain the same lists on the new site as the cloned one.

If you clone a website, by default it will clone the Project ID. This is handy when you are moving a development site to a live environment. By cloning the Project ID along with the rest of the website's files, you will retain all of your Docket WP lists and can continue to use the same lists on both the development and live site.

However, if you start projects by cloning a "starter site", you likely do not want to share Project ID's between your new project, your starter site, and any other websites you've cloned from the same starter site.

In this case you'll want to regenerate your Project ID, which will assign a new, unique Project ID to your website.

How to Regenerate Your Project ID

First, from the back end of WordPress hover over 'Settings', then click 'Docket WP'.

This will display all of the plugin settings for Docket WP.

Within the "Danger Zone" section, click the 'Regenerate Project ID' button.

WARNING: THIS ACTION CANNOT BE UNDONE AND WILL ERASE ANY ACTIVE, ARCHIVED, OR TRASHED LISTS ON YOUR WEBSITE.

Your browser will prompt you to make sure that you want to take this action. If you want to move forward with regenerating your Project ID, press 'OK' to continue.

Your website will be assigned a new & unique Project ID that does not match any of your other projects.
